Community Harvest Donation Share

Normalize explicitly donated harvest mass to compatible total harvest mass.

Description

Calculate a community harvest's donated mass share.

City-garden planning combines nominal container geometry, route lengths, water masses, access sides and shared-resource accounting. A litre quantity becomes mass only with a density, while reach depends on the declared accessible sides. Simple margins and shares organize supplied measurements; material behavior, structural capacity and individual access needs require separate assessment.

Calculate a community harvest's donated mass share.

When to use this tool

Use Community Harvest Donation Share when you already have donatedHarvestMass, totalHarvestMass and need to calculate a community harvest's donated mass share.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter donatedHarvestMass, totalHarvestMass. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read fraction, remainder. Use the output convention below.

Require totalHarvestMass>0 and donated mass within total; return donated/total and total-donated.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
donatedHarvestMassDonated Harvest MassRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
totalHarvestMassTotal Harvest MassRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
fractionFractionRequired. Finite number.
remainderRemainderRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Masses need matching units and lot/time basis; food safety, nutritional adequacy and entitlement are not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Measure the actual bed, container and access routes before applying nominal dimensions. For roof loading or water delivery, use the full support or hydraulic calculation; reconcile volunteer and harvest records over one common accounting period.
