RNA Integrity Number RIN 1-10 Band Profile Classifier
Screen an independently instrument-established RIN on its 1–10 scale; does not infer the proprietary RIN from rRNA peak ratios.
Description
Screen an independently instrument-established RIN on its 1–10 scale; does not infer the proprietary RIN from rRNA peak ratios.
An observed RNA integrity score can be compared with an assay-specific acceptance minimum. This is different from estimating that score from electropherogram peaks.
When to use this tool
Screen an independently instrument-established RIN on its 1–10 scale; does not infer the proprietary RIN from rRNA peak ratios.
- Prepare the supplied observedRin, callerAcceptableMinimum fields for this operation.
- Compare the complete example with the representation used by your own input before carrying the result into another step.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter observedRin, callerAcceptableMinimum. Use the exact text syntax, units and index conventions explained below.
- Run the tool. If input validation fails, correct the supplied fields before interpreting any result.
- Read result.atOrAboveSuppliedMinimum, result.rinEstimatedFromPeaks. Interpret false, null and empty lists using the distinctions below; they can be valid outputs.
Require observedRin and callerAcceptableMinimum each within 1 through 10. Return whether the observed value is at least the supplied minimum and rinEstimatedFromPeaks false.1
| Input field | Meaning and representation | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| observedRin | observed rin. | Finite number |
| callerAcceptableMinimum | caller acceptable minimum. | Finite number |
| Output field | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| result | Object containing the named outputs below. |
| result.atOrAboveSuppliedMinimum | Flag for at or above supplied minimum under the exact condition described above. |
| result.rinEstimatedFromPeaks | Flag for rin estimated from peaks under the exact condition described above. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The tool does not calculate RIN, classify a full profile or decide downstream assay suitability. Both the measured score and acceptance minimum must be supplied.
- Every declared top-level field is required and unexpected fields are rejected. Numeric inputs must be finite; ordinary text fields are bounded to 8,192 UTF-16 code units, with tighter operation-specific limits where stated.
- Ordinary string lists have at most 128 entries of at most 128 code units each; numeric lists and matrices have separate bounded size checks. Nonfinite results and excessively large serialized outputs are rejected.
- Indexes are zero-based and spans have an exclusive end unless explicitly stated otherwise. A valid false, null or empty-list result is distinct from malformed input.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a complete assay-analysis workflow for normalization, quality control and inference. Keep supplied measurements, fixed educational windows and caller-chosen thresholds distinct; these tools perform the documented calculation or retrieve a short reference note.
