Rigging Inspection Due
Calculate the next rigging inspection date from a supplied interval.
Description
Inspection scheduling adds a supplied interval to a last inspection date.
Inspection scheduling adds a supplied interval to a last inspection date. A due-date calculation is separate from establishing the appropriate interval or recording an inspection.1
Calculate the next rigging inspection date from a supplied interval.
When to use Rigging Inspection Due
Use this tool to calculate the next rigging inspection date from a supplied interval.
Prepare production measurements or checklist records for one planning period. Confirm units, staffing assumptions and caller-selected criteria before running the calculation.
How to use Rigging Inspection Due and understand its results
- Prepare production measurements or checklist records for one planning period. Confirm units, staffing assumptions and caller-selected criteria before running the calculation.
- Enter lastInspectionDate, inspectionIntervalDays, asOfDate using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read nextInspectionDate, daysUntilDue, overdue. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| lastInspectionDate | Last inspection date | string | Required |
| inspectionIntervalDays | Inspection interval (days) | integer; minimum: 1 | Required |
| asOfDate | As-of date | string | Required |
Enter YYYY-MM-DD dates and a positive integer interval. Parse midnight UTC, add calendar days in UTC and compare with the explicit as-of date. Return next date, signed days remaining and overdue only when days remaining is negative; due today is not overdue.
nextDate=lastDate+intervalDays; daysUntilDue=ceil((next−asOf)/86400000) Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| nextInspectionDate | Next inspection date | string |
| daysUntilDue | Days until due | integer |
| overdue | Inspection is overdue | boolean |

"input": {
"lastInspectionDate": "2025-01-01",

},
"output": {
"nextInspectionDate": "2026-01-01",

} Limitations and assumptions
No inspection standard or equipment history is supplied. JavaScript Date can normalize some impossible dates, such as overflowing month days; confirm real calendar dates. Weekends and holidays are not shifted.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Extremely large text inputs are rejected. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.
