Amended-Return Delay

Measure amended-return processing delay against a caller-supplied expectation.

Description

An amended-return delay comparison measures elapsed calendar days against a supplied expected duration.

An amended-return delay comparison measures elapsed calendar days against a supplied expected duration. It indicates excess elapsed time without retrieving processing status.1

Measure amended-return processing delay against a caller-supplied expectation.

When to use Amended-Return Delay

Use this tool to measure amended-return processing delay against a caller-supplied expectation.

Choose the specific arithmetic or checklist scenario and establish its input amounts, dates, rates and criteria from the applicable records. Keep currencies, periods and jurisdictions consistent; review the tool-specific assumptions before interpreting the result.

How to use Amended-Return Delay and understand its results

  1. Choose the specific arithmetic or checklist scenario and establish its input amounts, dates, rates and criteria from the applicable records. Keep currencies, periods and jurisdictions consistent; review the tool-specific assumptions before interpreting the result.
  2. Enter receivedDate, asOfDate, expectedProcessingDays using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read elapsedDays, daysBeyondExpectation, beyondExpectedDuration. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
Input fieldMeaningValue type; see rules belowRequirement
receivedDateAmended-return received datestringRequired
asOfDateStatus as-of datestringRequired
expectedProcessingDaysExpected processing durationinteger; minimum: 0Required

Enter YYYY-MM-DD filed/as-of dates and nonnegative integer expected days. Require nonnegative finite elapsed time. Return elapsed, excess days and strict delay flag; equality is not delayed.

elapsed=floor((asOf−filed)/86400000); beyond=max(0,elapsed−expectedDays); delayed=elapsed>expectedDays

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

No agency status or current processing estimate is fetched. Verify real calendar dates because JavaScript may normalize overflowing days.

Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Extremely large text inputs are rejected. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.
