Description
Positive offset shifts a centered rectangular load toward the right edge.
A logistics record separates ordered, reserved, dispatched, received, lost, and available quantities. It can also distinguish volume, mass, packaging, and cost bases. A balance or ratio checks supplied records and assumptions without verifying physical inventory, a contract, or safe loading.
Positive offset shifts a centered rectangular load toward the right edge.
When to use this tool
Use Pallet Overhang One Axis Margin when you need the particular supplied count, loading-budget, timing, or cost term in a logistics record.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter palletWidth, loadWidth, offset, allowedOverhang. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read leftOverhang, rightOverhang, margin. Use the output convention below.
Calculate left and right overhang from half the load-minus-pallet width, shifted by signed offset, flooring each at zero. Return margin against the larger overhang and require nonnegative widths and allowance.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| palletWidth | Pallet Width | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| loadWidth | Load Width | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| offset | Signed load-center offset under the left/right convention. | Required. Finite number. |
| allowedOverhang | Allowed Overhang | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| leftOverhang | Left Overhang | Required. Finite number. |
| rightOverhang | Right Overhang | Required. Finite number. |
| margin | Margin | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Offset changes side allocation in the stated sign convention. This one-axis check does not assess stability, load restraint, pallet strength, vehicle dimensions, or legally safe overhang.
- The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check the original stock, shipment, measurement, and contract records before acting on a balance. A full packing, routing, procurement, or load assessment may require more than the returned term.
