Description
Layer height budget with separators only between layers; input geometry must fit at least one layer.
A logistics record separates ordered, reserved, dispatched, received, lost, and available quantities. It can also distinguish volume, mass, packaging, and cost bases. A balance or ratio checks supplied records and assumptions without verifying physical inventory, a contract, or safe loading.
Layer height budget with separators only between layers; input geometry must fit at least one layer.
When to use this tool
Use Pallet Layer Height Remainder when you need the particular supplied count, loading-budget, timing, or cost term in a logistics record.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter maximumHeight, palletHeight, layerHeight, separatorHeight. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read layers, usedHeight, residual. Use the output convention below.
Fit whole layers using floor((maximumHeight-palletHeight+separatorHeight)/(layerHeight+separatorHeight)), then return usedHeight and residual. Require positive layer height and nonnegative pallet and separator heights, with room for at least one layer.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| maximumHeight | Maximum Height | Required. Finite number. |
| palletHeight | Pallet Height | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| layerHeight | Layer Height | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| separatorHeight | Height only between adjacent layers, not above the final layer. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| layers | Layers | Required. Safe integer. |
| usedHeight | Used Height | Required. Finite number. |
| residual | Signed discrepancy under the formula stated above. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Separators occur only between layers. This vertical budget does not assess packaging compression, stability, restraint, weight limits, or transport safety.
- The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check the original stock, shipment, measurement, and contract records before acting on a balance. A full packing, routing, procurement, or load assessment may require more than the returned term.
