Description
Return their difference as observedCount and missing/total as missingFraction.
A statistic summarizes data under chosen conventions for missing values, ties, spread, and denominators. A component calculation uses the supplied values; it does not check whether the data collection or statistical model is appropriate.
Return their difference as observedCount and missing/total as missingFraction.
When to use this tool
Use Sample Size Missingness Denominator when you need one stated statistical component with explicit handling of boundary cases.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter totalCount, missingCount. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read observedCount, missingFraction. Use the output convention below.
Require positive integer totalCount and missingCount between zero and total. Return their difference as observedCount and missing/total as missingFraction.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| totalCount | Total Count | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| missingCount | Missing Count | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| observedCount | Observed Count | Required. Safe integer. |
| missingFraction | Missing Fraction | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Missingness is supplied and its fraction does not establish whether complete-case analysis is unbiased or appropriate.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
