Description
Compare a measured voice frequency with a supplied reference frequency.
Speech records use different observational units: words, morphemes, tokens, time spans, frequency and symbol-code versions. A duration share differs from a count-based speech measure, and a transcription remains a supplied annotation. Recorded practice completion and communication preferences need their original assessment and consent context before clinical interpretation.
Compare a measured voice frequency with a supplied reference frequency.
When to use this tool
Use Voice Pitch Reference Offset when you already have measuredHertz, referenceHertz and need to compare a measured voice frequency with a supplied reference frequency.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter measuredHertz, referenceHertz. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read hertzDifference, ratio. Use the output convention below.
Require both frequencies>0; return measured-reference in Hz and measured/reference as a dimensionless ratio.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| measuredHertz | Measured Hertz | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| referenceHertz | Reference Hertz | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| hertzDifference | Hertz Difference | Required. Finite number. |
| ratio | Ratio | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- No audio or pitch estimator is used; a ratio is not a semitone difference or a clinical voice assessment.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the original audio, transcription and annotation manual when counts or intervals need verification. Apply a complete instrument's stated scoring method for an assessment; retain source-defined word, morpheme, time and symbol conventions throughout.
