Description
Intersect available and requested windows, return availableOverlap and its share of the requested window, and calculate durationSlack=overlap-requiredDuration.
Support-service records distinguish appointments, action times, review windows, consent annotations, and allocation of shared resources. A supplied flag or time margin can support bookkeeping while case evidence, professional judgment, and applicable obligations remain separate.
Intersect available and requested windows, return availableOverlap and its share of the requested window, and calculate durationSlack=overlap-requiredDuration.
When to use this tool
Use Referral Available Window Share when you need one explicit service-record, clock, consent-annotation, or resource-allocation check.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter windowStart, windowEnd, availableStart, availableEnd, requiredDuration. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read availableOverlap, share, durationSlack. Use the output convention below.
Intersect available and requested windows, return availableOverlap and its share of the requested window, and calculate durationSlack=overlap-requiredDuration. Require a positive requested window and nonnegative required duration.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| windowStart | Window Start | Required. Finite number. |
| windowEnd | Window End | Required. Finite number. |
| availableStart | Available Start | Required. Finite number. |
| availableEnd | Available End | Required. Finite number. |
| requiredDuration | Required Duration | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| availableOverlap | Available Overlap | Required. Finite number. |
| share | Dimensionless fraction using the stated denominator; not a percentage numeral. | Required. Finite number. |
| durationSlack | Duration Slack | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The overlap is continuous time, not a verified service booking. A nonnegative slack does not establish staffing, accessibility, case suitability, consent, or a care recommendation.
- The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
