Description
Convert a supplied angular similarity value between degrees and radians.
Similarity calculations require a clear representation and normalization. Histogram overlap is formed from comparable bins, while an angular quantity may be expressed in degrees or radians. One local bin contribution or angle conversion does not construct a complete similarity measure, compare observations or establish statistical meaning.
Convert a supplied angular similarity value between degrees and radians.
When to use this tool
Use Angular Similarity Degrees Radians Label when you already have angle, inputUnit and need to convert a supplied angular similarity value between degrees and radians.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter angle, inputUnit. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read radians, degrees. Use the output convention below.
Require inputUnit degrees or radians; use radians=degrees*π/180 and degrees=radians*180/π, retaining signed values.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| angle | Signed angle, preserved without wrapping or interval restriction. | Required. Finite number. |
| inputUnit | Input Unit | Required. Text; one of "degrees", "radians"; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| radians | Radians | Required. Finite number. |
| degrees | Degrees | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- No similarity score or vectors are computed, and angles are not wrapped or restricted to a conventional interval.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Compare complete histograms on matching bins and normalization when a distribution-level overlap is needed. If an angular similarity is required, calculate it from the underlying representations and state its unit; a single-bin or unit conversion remains local.
