Oviposition First 24H Percent

Calculate observed first-24-hour oviposition share from nonoverlapping bins beginning at laying onset with an exact 24-hour boundary; later unobserved laying remains outside the denominator.

Description

An oviposition time bin cannot be divided at 24 hours without more observations.

An oviposition time bin cannot be divided at 24 hours without more observations. An exact bin boundary supports an observed first-day share.

Calculate observed first-24-hour oviposition share from nonoverlapping bins beginning at laying onset with an exact 24-hour boundary; later unobserved laying remains outside the denominator.

When to use Oviposition First 24H Percent

Use this tool to calculate observed first-24-hour oviposition share from nonoverlapping bins beginning at laying onset with an exact 24-hour boundary; later unobserved laying remains outside the denominator.

Prepare cocoon, larval, leaf or reeling measurements on a consistent batch and moisture basis. Use the declared mass, length and time units.

How to use Oviposition First 24H Percent and understand its results

  1. Prepare cocoon, larval, leaf or reeling measurements on a consistent batch and moisture basis. Use the declared mass, length and time units.
  2. Enter intervalEndHours, eggsLaidPerInterval using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read first24HoursEggCount, totalObservedEggCount, first24HoursOvipositionPercent. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
Input fieldMeaningValue type; see rules belowRequirement
intervalEndHoursInterval end hourslist of numberRequired
eggsLaidPerIntervalEggs laid per intervallist of numberRequired

Use increasing positive end hours with an exact 24-hour endpoint and aligned nonnegative integer counts. Require positive observed total; sum complete first-day bins.1

Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths. Each sequence checked for increasing order must contain at least two strictly increasing values.

first-day percent = 100 × eggs in bins ending by 24h/total observed eggs

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

Bins start at laying onset; later unobserved eggs are outside the denominator.

Numbers and computed results must be finite; overflow produces an error. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Late Laying Discards Percent Rule Checker: Audit observed late-laying share against supplied time/fraction policy without inventing within-bin allocation, discarding eggs or certifying viability. For a complementary task, use Eggs Per Moth Count Average: Summarize measured individual silkmoth egg counts including sample variability and caller low-fecundity count; unlike cohort egg-production forecasts, this audits observed mothers.
