Conditioned Weight International Formula

Estimate lot commercial conditioned weight using pooled sample dry/received ratios and an explicit agreed dry-basis regain; no jurisdiction-specific conditioning allowance is embedded.

Description

Commercial conditioning converts dry silk mass to an agreed moisture-regain basis.

Commercial conditioning converts dry silk mass to an agreed moisture-regain basis. Received mass and dry mass are separate measurements.

Estimate lot commercial conditioned weight using pooled sample dry/received ratios and an explicit agreed dry-basis regain; no jurisdiction-specific conditioning allowance is embedded.

When to use Conditioned Weight International Formula

Use this tool to estimate lot commercial conditioned weight using pooled sample dry/received ratios and an explicit agreed dry-basis regain; no jurisdiction-specific conditioning allowance is embedded.

Prepare cocoon, larval, leaf or reeling measurements on a consistent batch and moisture basis. Use the declared mass, length and time units.

How to use Conditioned Weight International Formula and understand its results

  1. Prepare cocoon, larval, leaf or reeling measurements on a consistent batch and moisture basis. Use the declared mass, length and time units.
  2. Enter lotNetReceivedKg, sampleReceivedMassesGrams, sampleDryMassesGrams, agreedCommercialRegainFraction using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read samplePooledRegainFraction, estimatedLotDryKg, commercialConditionedKg, conditioningWeightAdjustmentKg. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

sampleDryMassesGramsSample dry masses gramslist of numberRequired
agreedCommercialRegainFractionAgreed commercial regain fractionnumberRequired

Align positive dry and received samples with dry no greater than received. Use nonnegative lot kg and agreed dry-basis regain. Return pooled sample regain, estimated dry kg, conditioned kg and signed adjustment.1

Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.

conditioned lot = received lot × pooled dry/pooled received × (1 + agreed regain)

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

No jurisdiction-specific allowance is embedded; representative sampling is required.

Numbers and computed results must be finite; overflow produces an error. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Moisture Regain 11 Percent Checker: Audit measured dry-basis silk moisture regain against caller target/tolerance; historical 11 percent route imposes no fixed international legal standard. For a complementary task, use Momme Weight Conversion Fabric: Convert measured swatch GSM to moisture-conditioned commercial momme: one pound per 45-inch by 100-yard silk piece, approximately 4.34 g/m² per momme; regain is dry-basis, not wet-basis water percent.
