Cocoons Per KG Count Average Lookup

Actual sampled cocoon number per kg; does not invent a breed-independent average.

Description

Calculate cocoon count per kilogram from a measured sample.

A cocoon count per kilogram can be estimated from an actual counted sample and its measured mass. The ratio retains the sampling context rather than assuming all cocoon lots have equal size.

When to use this tool

Calculate cocoon count per kilogram from a measured sample. Use it when the input measurements and conventions below match the operation you need.

  • Prepare countedCocoons, sampledMassKg, respecting the measurement basis and boundaries below.
  • Compare the worked example with your intended operation before reusing its result.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter every field in the input table using the stated units and exact supported selector spelling where applicable.
  2. Run the tool. Correct input errors before interpreting an output.
  3. Read the result fields below; use accompanying flags and the stated sign, boundary or model convention when interpreting a number.

The count must be a nonnegative integer and sampleMassKg positive. The tool divides count by sample mass to obtain cocoons per kilogram.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
countedCocoonsCounted cocoons.Integer; from 0 to 1000000000 inclusive
sampledMassKgSampled mass kg. Kilograms.Finite number; greater than zero
Output fieldInterpretation
resultObject containing the following named result fields.
result.observedCocoonsPerKgObserved cocoons per kg; use the stated units and sign convention.

Limitations and assumptions

  • No rounding to a purchasable count or correction for sampling variation is applied. Moisture, defective cocoons and representativeness must be handled in the sampling method.
  • Every declared field is required and unexpected fields are rejected. Numeric inputs must be finite; input errors are distinct from a valid false result or an explicitly qualified output.
  • Extremely large inputs and nonfinite or excessively large outputs are rejected. List positions reported by the tool use zero-based indices unless stated otherwise.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Keep lot, sampling, processing and mass-basis records with the result. Where this page retrieves supplied guidance, consult the underlying current source rather than treating retrieval as a new measurement or process validation. Compare the scope of the nearby tools below before substituting one.
