Description
Calculate pureMass=grossMass*(1-impurityFraction), recoverablePureMass=pureMass*recovery, and grossRequired=targetPureMass/((1-impurityFraction)*recovery).
Dental laboratory and prosthetic research records distinguish measured dimensions, reference targets, material quantities, and evidence flags. Ratios and residuals depend on those measurement conventions. An idealized bench term or metadata match is separate from fabrication quality and clinical fit or suitability.
Calculate pureMass=grossMass*(1-impurityFraction), recoverablePureMass=pureMass*recovery, and grossRequired=targetPureMass/((1-impurityFraction)*recovery).
When to use this tool
Use Prosthodontic Lab Alloy Batch Purity Term when you need the stated laboratory, bench, geometry, or device-record term from already supplied measurements or annotations.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter grossMass, impurityFraction, targetPureMass, recovery. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read pureMass, recoverablePureMass, grossRequired. Use the output convention below.
Calculate pureMass=grossMass*(1-impurityFraction), recoverablePureMass=pureMass*recovery, and grossRequired=targetPureMass/((1-impurityFraction)*recovery). Require nonnegative masses, impurity below one, and recovery above zero through one.1

| targetPureMass | Target Pure Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| recovery | Recovery | Required. Finite number; maximum 1; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| pureMass | Pure Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| recoverablePureMass | Recoverable Pure Mass | Required. Finite number. |
| grossRequired | Gross Required | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Fractions are supplied assay and process assumptions. This does not verify alloy composition, biocompatibility, recovery performance, fabrication safety, or material suitability for a patient.
- The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use calibrated measurements and an appropriate complete geometric, material, or laboratory method when the task requires more than one bench term. Clinical suitability requires a separate professional assessment.
