Description

Use a supplied mass-basis alloy purity label and preserve unknown composition with a flag.

Dental laboratory and prosthetic research records distinguish measured dimensions, reference targets, material quantities, and evidence flags. Ratios and residuals depend on those measurement conventions. An idealized bench term or metadata match is separate from fabrication quality and clinical fit or suitability.

Use a supplied mass-basis alloy purity label and preserve unknown composition with a flag.

When to use this tool

Use Alloy Purity Label Basis Flag when you need the stated laboratory, bench, geometry, or device-record term from already supplied measurements or annotations.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter grossMass, suppliedPurityFraction, purityKnown. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read pureMassDefined, pureMass, otherMass. Inspect pureMassDefined before interpreting the associated values.

Return pureMass=grossMass*suppliedPurityFraction and otherMass=grossMass*(1-suppliedPurityFraction) only when purityKnown; otherwise return both zero with pureMassDefined false. Require nonnegative mass and bounded fraction.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The fraction is validated even when unknown. Zero placeholders do not imply pure or absent material, and no composition test, biocompatibility, or clinical suitability is verified.
  • The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated measurements and an appropriate complete geometric, material, or laboratory method when the task requires more than one bench term. Clinical suitability requires a separate professional assessment.
