Description
Convert a supplied crown-margin gap between micrometres and millimetres.
Prosthetic records use explicit material lots, shade systems, reference lengths, pressure and gap units. A dimensional scale change differs from acceptable fit, while a connection label differs from verified compatibility. Measurements and component assertions need the original device, material specification and qualified clinical interpretation.
Convert a supplied crown-margin gap between micrometres and millimetres.
When to use this tool
Use Crown Margin Gap Unit when you already have gap, inputUnit and need to convert a supplied crown-margin gap between micrometres and millimetres.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter gap, inputUnit. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read micrometers, millimeters. Use the output convention below.
Require gap>=0 and inputUnit um or mm; use 1000 µm=1 mm.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| gap | Gap | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| inputUnit | Input Unit | Required. Text; one of "um", "mm"; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| micrometers | Micrometers | Required. Finite number. |
| millimeters | Millimeters | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The tool does not measure a margin, assess fit or choose a clinically acceptable gap.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check actual component specifications, material lots, calibrated measurements and fit records. Use a full dimensional or mechanical assessment for a prosthesis; unit conversions, shade labels and one-point scale differences preserve narrower facts.
