Description
Require both amounts positive and return firstAmount/secondAmount and its reciprocal.
A proportion is a ratio with a defined numerator and denominator. Fractions, percentages, and per-mille values use different scales, while a signed deviation also depends on which value is treated as the reference.
Require both amounts positive and return firstAmount/secondAmount and its reciprocal.
When to use this tool
Use Share Denominator Reversal Pair when you need a clearly defined ratio, retained share, or signed proportional component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter firstAmount, secondAmount. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read firstPerSecond, secondPerFirst. Use the output convention below.

| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| firstAmount | First Amount | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| secondAmount | Second Amount | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| firstPerSecond | First Per Second | Required. Finite number. |
| secondPerFirst | Second Per First | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The two denominators answer different questions; use compatible units and do not confuse either ratio with a share of their sum.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Write out the numerator, denominator, and reporting scale when comparing this result with another indicator.
