Turnout Invalid Ballot Denominator Choice Tool

Make the ballot-count convention explicit when calculating registered-voter turnout.

Description

Divide valid plus optionally invalid ballots by registered voters and return that numerator.

Quorum, veto, delegation, and limit checks apply declared organizational rules to supplied records. Numeric consistency is separate from establishing actual authority or valid procedure.

Divide valid plus optionally invalid ballots by registered voters and return that numerator.

When to use this tool

Use Turnout Invalid Ballot Denominator Choice when you need a reproducible check against explicit governance inputs.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter validBallots, invalidBallots, registeredVoters, includeInvalid. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read turnoutFraction, numeratorBallots. Use the output convention below.

Require valid and invalid ballot counts whose sum fits positive registeredVoters. Divide valid plus optionally invalid ballots by registered voters and return that numerator.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The inclusion policy is explicit; voter eligibility, duplicate voting, reporting standards, and actual turnout data are not verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Consult the governing policy and verify membership, delegation, and decision records with the responsible authority.
