Description
Calculate a constituency's share of supplied representative seats.
Election and representation summaries depend on counting conventions: included ballots, quotas, seat totals, strict majority and source-defined statuses. A half-seat rule differs from an official quorum or certified result. Supplied counts and denominators support transparent arithmetic while legal rules, ballot validity and representativeness require separate evidence.
Calculate a constituency's share of supplied representative seats.
When to use this tool
Use Constituency Representative Seat Share when you already have constituencySeats, totalSeats and need to calculate a constituency's share of supplied representative seats.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter constituencySeats, totalSeats. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read seatShare. Use the output convention below.
Require safe whole totalSeats>=1 and constituency seats within total; return constituency/total.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |

} Limitations and assumptions
- No apportionment, voting weight, fairness or lawful seat allocation is inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Consult the governing count procedure and official source records for actual ballot treatment, quotas and majority rules. Reconcile all relevant ballots or seats before extending one share or surplus factor to a complete election or representation result.
