Description
Label a physiological signal channel's positive and negative directions.
Physiological signals have explicit sampling intervals, polarity, time origins and cycle conventions. One cycle period differs from a robust averaged rate, and wrapped external-clock phase differs from measured biological phase. Supplied markers and gas-reference labels organize data without detecting events or establishing normal physiology.
Label a physiological signal channel's positive and negative directions.
When to use this tool
Use Physiological Signal Polarity Label when you already have channelId, positiveDirection, negativeDirection and need to label a physiological signal channel's positive and negative directions.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter channelId, positiveDirection, negativeDirection. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read label. Use the output convention below.
Require three nonempty strings; JSON-quote both direction wordings in the channel label.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| channelId | Channel Id | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| positiveDirection | Positive Direction | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| negativeDirection | Negative Direction | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| label | Label | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The wording is not a verified electrode orientation, calibration or biological interpretation.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect the original signal, event markers and acquisition clock when deriving physiological quantities. Use an appropriate multi-cycle or time-varying analysis when a single supplied interval, fixed sampling rate or wrapped external-time phase is insufficient.
