Description
Apply an explicit dilution multiplier to a reported concentration.
Pharmacokinetic records distinguish concentration, amount, elapsed time, dilution basis and assay quantification status. Multiplying concentration by compatible volume gives an amount, while a first-order decay factor assumes a supplied constant rate. These local terms and labels do not estimate a person's drug exposure or establish a dose, therapeutic threshold or safe medication decision.
Apply an explicit dilution multiplier to a reported concentration.
When to use this tool
Use PK Concentration Dilution Adjustment when you already have reportedConcentration, explicitDilutionFactor and need to apply an explicit dilution multiplier to a reported concentration.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter reportedConcentration, explicitDilutionFactor. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read adjustedConcentration. Use the output convention below.
Require concentration>=0 and dilutionFactor>0; return their product.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| reportedConcentration | Reported Concentration | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| explicitDilutionFactor | Explicit Dilution Factor | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| adjustedConcentration | Adjusted Concentration | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The factor may be below one; no specimen preparation, recovery, actual concentration validity or clinical interpretation is established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified assay data and an appropriate complete pharmacokinetic model for exposure analysis. Keep dilution, concentration/amount units, sampling time and quantification conventions attached to the observations; a scalar decay or limit comparison does not estimate a regimen.
