Description

Convert supplied mass/density and explicit volume bases without recommending essential-oil use.

Botanical laboratory records distinguish wet mass, dry matter, carriers, extract mass, and assay response. A fraction or reference comparison depends on the chosen material basis and supplied analytical method. Voucher and monograph metadata help identify records but do not themselves authenticate a specimen or establish product quality.

Convert supplied mass/density and explicit volume bases without recommending essential-oil use.

When to use this tool

Use Essential Oil Reference Volume Factor when you need this mass-basis, assay-response, extraction, or source-record calculation for supplied laboratory data.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter mass, suppliedDensity, sourceVolumeScale, referenceVolume. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read volume, referenceRatio. Use the output convention below.

For nonnegative mass and positive suppliedDensity, sourceVolumeScale, and referenceVolume return volume=mass/suppliedDensity*sourceVolumeScale and referenceRatio=volume/referenceVolume.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Density must use the mass unit per source-volume unit, and sourceVolumeScale converts that source volume to the reference-volume unit. Temperature, composition, and oil identity are not verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the appropriate authenticated reference material, analytical protocol, and source records for a full laboratory assessment. Verify moisture basis, response factors, and extract/carrier definitions before comparing results.
