Description

Preserve supplied voucher, authorship and source identifiers without authenticating a specimen.

Botanical laboratory records distinguish wet mass, dry matter, carriers, extract mass, and assay response. A fraction or reference comparison depends on the chosen material basis and supplied analytical method. Voucher and monograph metadata help identify records but do not themselves authenticate a specimen or establish product quality.

Preserve supplied voucher, authorship and source identifiers without authenticating a specimen.

When to use this tool

Use Botanical Voucher Authorship Token when you need this mass-basis, assay-response, extraction, or source-record calculation for supplied laboratory data.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter voucherId, author, source. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read hasAuthor, hasSource, citationKey. Inspect hasAuthor, hasSource before interpreting the associated values.

Return hasAuthor and hasSource based on nonblank trimmed author and source strings, and citationKey=JSON.stringify([source, voucherId,author]) using the original strings.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Presence checks trim whitespace but the key preserves it, so superficially equivalent labels can have different keys. No authorship, voucher authenticity, taxonomic identity, or source existence is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the appropriate authenticated reference material, analytical protocol, and source records for a full laboratory assessment. Verify moisture basis, response factors, and extract/carrier definitions before comparing results.
