Description

One supplied linear assay-reference mass calculation without identifying a substance.

Botanical laboratory records distinguish wet mass, dry matter, carriers, extract mass, and assay response. A fraction or reference comparison depends on the chosen material basis and supplied analytical method. Voucher and monograph metadata help identify records but do not themselves authenticate a specimen or establish product quality.

One supplied linear assay-reference mass calculation without identifying a substance.

When to use this tool

Use Botanical Marker Supplied Assay Content Term when you need this mass-basis, assay-response, extraction, or source-record calculation for supplied laboratory data.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter sampleSignal, blankSignal, referenceSignal, referenceMass, sampleMass, dilution. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read correctedSignal, markerMass, massFraction. Use the output convention below.

For positive referenceSignal, referenceMass, sampleMass, and dilution return correctedSignal=sampleSignal-blankSignal, markerMass=correctedSignal*referenceMass*dilution/referenceSignal, and massFraction=markerMass/sampleMass.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Signals need a common response scale and masses one unit. Negative corrected signal and fractions outside zero through one are allowed; calibration, specificity, recovery, identity, and product safety are not established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the appropriate authenticated reference material, analytical protocol, and source records for a full laboratory assessment. Verify moisture basis, response factors, and extract/carrier definitions before comparing results.
