Description
Split a simple two-star-allele diplotype subset without inferring haplotypes or function.
Star-allele labels name pharmacogene haplotypes under a nomenclature system. A diplotype records a pair of allele labels, and textual separators must be distinguished from evidence about the underlying chromosomes. Parsing the written label is separate from establishing which alleles are present or what they mean clinically.
Split a simple two-star-allele diplotype subset without inferring haplotypes or function.
When to use this tool
Use Star Allele Diplotype Phase Separator when you need to split the supported slash-separated star-allele token into its two written components.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter token. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read firstAllele, secondAllele, separator. Use the output convention below.
Accept exactly two tokens of the form * followed by a positive integer and optionally a decimal suballele suffix, separated by one slash. Return firstAllele, secondAllele, and separator=/, preserving the matched text.1
Star nomenclature labels haplotypes and suballeles. The restricted grammar accepted here is a text-processing rule, not an allele definition or verification against that nomenclature resource.2
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| token | Exactly two supported star-allele labels separated by a slash, such as *1/*2.001. | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| firstAllele | First matched label, preserved literally. | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| secondAllele | Second matched label, preserved literally. | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| separator | Always the slash character for accepted input. | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This restricted string parser accepts no gene prefix, pipe phase separator, copy-number syntax, or surrounding whitespace. It does not look up alleles, establish experimental phasing, infer phenotype, or guide medication use.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a current gene-specific nomenclature source and validated genotype/phase interpretation when allele identity or function matters. This parser handles only the stated token grammar.
