Drug Exposure Washout Margin

Compare an explicit elapsed interval with a supplied washout interval without selecting a clinical or study requirement.

Description

Compare elapsed days with a supplied drug-exposure washout interval.

Medication-study records distinguish supplied coverage intervals, observed person-days, dispensing reversals and source event definitions. Inclusive calendar-day counting differs from continuous elapsed time. Recorded supply and washout flags are study conventions rather than evidence of ingestion, drug clearance, causal effect or suitable treatment.

Compare elapsed days with a supplied drug-exposure washout interval.

When to use this tool

Use Drug Exposure Washout Margin when you already have elapsedDays, suppliedWashoutDays and need to compare elapsed days with a supplied drug-exposure washout interval.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter elapsedDays, suppliedWashoutDays. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read marginDays, meetsSuppliedInterval. Inspect meetsSuppliedInterval before interpreting the associated values.

Require elapsedDays/washoutDays>=0; return elapsed-washout and elapsed>=washout, including equality.1

elapsedDaysElapsed DaysRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
suppliedWashoutDaysSupplied Washout DaysRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Day quantities may be fractional; meeting a supplied interval does not establish drug clearance, safe switching or an appropriate study rule.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Construct exposure episodes from a documented study rule and verified dispensing or observation history. Keep inclusive calendar coverage distinct from elapsed time and actual ingestion; evaluate causal questions with a complete study design rather than one interval flag.
