Prescription Coverage End Date

Add an explicit positive days-supply interval to a start date using inclusive calendar-day coverage without inferring medication use.

Description

Calculate an inclusive supply end date from supplied start and day count.

Medication-study records distinguish supplied coverage intervals, observed person-days, dispensing reversals and source event definitions. Inclusive calendar-day counting differs from continuous elapsed time. Recorded supply and washout flags are study conventions rather than evidence of ingestion, drug clearance, causal effect or suitable treatment.

Calculate an inclusive supply end date from supplied start and day count.

When to use this tool

Use Prescription Coverage End Date when you already have startDate, suppliedDays and need to calculate an inclusive supply end date from supplied start and day count.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter startDate, suppliedDays. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read inclusiveEndDate. Use the output convention below.

Require real UTC startDate and safe whole suppliedDays>=1; add days-1 and require output year 0000..9999.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
startDateStart DateRequired. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. Real proleptic Gregorian YYYY-MM-DD; four-digit years 0000-9999 accepted.
suppliedDaysPositive safe whole number of inclusive coverage days; one day ends at startDate.Required. Safe integer; minimum 1.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
inclusiveEndDateInclusive End DateRequired. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192.

Limitations and assumptions

  • A one-day supply ends on its start date; no dose, regimen, dispensing validity or actual medication coverage is determined.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Construct exposure episodes from a documented study rule and verified dispensing or observation history. Keep inclusive calendar coverage distinct from elapsed time and actual ingestion; evaluate causal questions with a complete study design rather than one interval flag.
