Description

Orient supplied research effect changes under an explicit sign convention without efficacy interpretation.

A pharmacodynamic model relates an exposure or occupancy measure to a response under explicitly supplied parameters. Baseline, maximum increment, half-maximal concentration, effect direction, and observation windows have distinct meanings. Evaluating one model term does not fit the curve or establish its clinical validity.

Orient supplied research effect changes under an explicit sign convention without efficacy interpretation.

When to use this tool

Use PD Effect Baseline Sign Reference when you need this particular response-model term, scale conversion, panel duration, or support calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter effect, baseline, reductionIsPositive. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read signedChange. Use the output convention below.

Return signedChange=effect-baseline, reversing its sign when reductionIsPositive.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
effectEffectRequired. Finite number.
baselineSupplied response level at the model's zero-effect baseline.Required. Finite number.
reductionIsPositiveReduction Is PositiveRequired. Boolean.

signedChangeSigned ChangeRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Effect and baseline need a common scale. The flag selects a reporting direction; no desirable effect, mechanism, statistical significance, or clinical benefit is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a fitted and validated response model when a supplied local term is insufficient. Check exposure units, response direction, baseline, model assumptions, and observation support before comparing effects.
