Description

Express a supplied bench measurement and source resolution in target quantum units, without clinical cutoffs.

Dental research records distinguish teeth, surfaces, sites, observations, exclusions, and reporting bases. Measurement resolution and missing observations affect interpretation differently. A chart token, site share, or measurement envelope can check supplied data without establishing a clinical finding.

When to use this tool

Use Probe Measurement Resolution Factor when you need this site-record, denominator, label, image-scale, or measurement component for supplied research data.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter recorded, sourceQuantum, targetQuantum. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read resolutionRatio, targetSteps. Use the output convention below.

For nonnegative recorded and positive sourceQuantum and targetQuantum return resolutionRatio=sourceQuantum/targetQuantum and targetSteps=recorded/targetQuantum.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Use the same length unit for all three inputs. TargetSteps need not be an integer and is not rounded; no reading conversion, calibration, or clinical precision claim is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the intended examination or measurement protocol with verified site identities and source records. Broader interpretation requires actual observations and appropriate measurement properties beyond one token or ratio.
