Discussion Rubric Score
Score asynchronous discussion criteria and flag low-scoring rubric dimensions.
Description
A discussion rubric score aggregates already assigned points and identifies dimensions below a selected fraction.
A discussion rubric score aggregates already assigned points and identifies dimensions below a selected fraction. Different criterion maxima remain explicit in the total.1

When to use Discussion Rubric Score
Use this tool to score asynchronous discussion criteria and flag low-scoring rubric dimensions.
Prepare the lesson timeline, roster, observations or assessment labels requested. Use consistent units and exact identifiers, then choose comparison criteria appropriate to the activity.
How to use Discussion Rubric Score and understand its results
- Prepare the lesson timeline, roster, observations or assessment labels requested. Use consistent units and exact identifiers, then choose comparison criteria appropriate to the activity.
- Enter criteria, earnedPoints, possiblePoints, minimumCriterionFraction using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read totalPoints, maximumPoints, belowTargetCriteria. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| criteria | Criteria | list of string | Required |
| earnedPoints | Earned points | list of number | Required |
| possiblePoints | Possible points | list of number | Required |
| minimumCriterionFraction | Minimum criterion fraction | number | Required |
Enter nonempty distinct exact criteria, aligned earned/possible lists with positive maxima and earned within 0…maximum, plus minimum fraction in 0–1. Return totals and below-target labels. Equality is not flagged.
total=Σearned; maximum=Σpossible; below if earned_i/possible_i<minimum Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| totalPoints | Total points | number |
| maximumPoints | Maximum points | number |
| belowTargetCriteria | Below target criteria | list of string |

} Limitations and assumptions
No discussion text is graded and no criterion weight beyond its maximum is added. Scoring reliability and assessment validity require separate review.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
