Description

Supplied specimen-record timing only; no fixation duration, procedure or diagnostic guidance.

Laboratory records distinguish specimen identity, sampling coverage, retained quantities, processing times, image scale, and measurement uncertainty. Areas, volumes, counts, and source-support flags measure different aspects of a record. A local calculation does not identify tissue or establish diagnostic adequacy.

Supplied specimen-record timing only; no fixation duration, procedure or diagnostic guidance.

When to use this tool

Use Specimen Fixation Record Duration when you need this specimen-record, sampling, processing-time, dimensional, or uncertainty calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter recordedStart, recordedEnd, suppliedPause. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read elapsed, countedDuration. Use the output convention below.

Require recordedEnd>=recordedStart and suppliedPause within the elapsed interval. Return elapsed=recordedEnd-recordedStart and countedDuration=elapsed-suppliedPause.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • All times and pause need one unit. Pause subtraction is an explicit reporting convention and does not establish actual fixation kinetics, protocol compliance, or clinical specimen adequacy.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use validated laboratory procedures, traceable measurements, and authenticated specimen records for a complete assessment. Check the relevant sampling and processing assumptions before interpreting a local quantity.
