Net Use Adherence
Apply a caller-defined reliability factor to reported insecticide-treated-net use.
Description
Reported bed-net use and confidence in that report are separate inputs.
Reported bed-net use and confidence in that report are separate inputs. Multiplying them creates a caller-defined adjusted adherence proxy.
The tool returns reportedUseFraction (reported use fraction); adjustedUseFraction (adjusted use fraction). Input measurements and model parameters are supplied by the caller; the tool computes the stated summary rather than acquiring those measurements.
When to use Net Use Adherence
Use Net Use Adherence when you already have reportedNetNights, assessedNights, selfReportReliability and want reportedUseFraction, adjustedUseFraction. This is useful for checking a supplied calculation, documenting a measurement convention, or comparing observations prepared on the same basis.
How to use Net Use Adherence and understand its results
- Enter reportedNetNights, assessedNights, selfReportReliability using the field table below. Match the units, ordering and data boundaries described in the calculation.
- Run the tool after checking the stated bounds and matching paired observations or categories. A malformed request gives a tool error rather than a usable measurement.
- Read reportedUseFraction, adjustedUseFraction. Use the calculation and interpretation below to distinguish amounts, ratios, signs and decision flags where applicable.
- Review the supplied parameters and assumptions before using the result in a report or comparing it with another observation.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type and bounds | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| reportedNetNights | Reported net nights | integer | Required |
| assessedNights | Assessed nights | integer | Required |
| selfReportReliability | Self report reliability | number | Required |
Require a positive assessed count, a reported user count no greater than assessed, and a reliability factor in [0,1].
reported use = users/assessed; adjusted adherence = reported use × reliabilityFraction The symbols refer to the supplied quantities or generated values described above; unit conversions and comparison boundaries follow the stated implementation.

The adjustment is a supplied modelling weight, not a validated correction for reporting bias. No protective effect or malaria risk is calculated.
Numerical inputs must be finite. The tool checks its declared input shape and calculation constraints; those checks do not verify the quality, calibration or representativeness of the supplied observations.
