Miracidium Hatching Duration
Summarize observed miracidium hatching delays after a supplied water-exposure start time.
Description
Hatching latency is the delay between exposure start and an observed hatch.
Hatching latency is the delay between exposure start and an observed hatch. A median summarizes observed times without requiring them to be originally sorted.
The tool returns hatchingDelaysMinutes (hatching delays minutes); medianDelayMinutes (median delay minutes). Input measurements and model parameters are supplied by the caller; the tool computes the stated summary rather than acquiring those measurements.
When to use Miracidium Hatching Duration
Use Miracidium Hatching Duration when you already have exposureStartMinutes, hatchingTimesMinutes and want hatchingDelaysMinutes, medianDelayMinutes. This is useful for checking a supplied calculation, documenting a measurement convention, or comparing observations prepared on the same basis.
How to use Miracidium Hatching Duration and understand its results
- Enter exposureStartMinutes, hatchingTimesMinutes using the field table below. Match the units, ordering and data boundaries described in the calculation.
- Run the tool after checking the stated bounds and matching paired observations or categories. A malformed request gives a tool error rather than a usable measurement.
- Read hatchingDelaysMinutes, medianDelayMinutes. Use the calculation and interpretation below to distinguish amounts, ratios, signs and decision flags where applicable.
- Review the supplied parameters and assumptions before using the result in a report or comparing it with another observation.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type and bounds | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| exposureStartMinutes | Exposure start minutes | number | Required |
| hatchingTimesMinutes | Hatching times minutes | list of number | Required |
Require a nonempty list with every hatch at or after the nonnegative exposure start. Return each delay and the sorted-sample median.
delay[i] = hatchingTime[i] − exposureStart; median = middle value or mean of two middle values The symbols refer to the supplied quantities or generated values described above; unit conversions and comparison boundaries follow the stated implementation.

Unhatched or censored organisms are not represented; the median describes observed hatches only. Time units must be consistent.
Numerical inputs must be finite. The tool checks its declared input shape and calculation constraints; those checks do not verify the quality, calibration or representativeness of the supplied observations.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Snail Shedding Output: Normalize observed cercarial output to total snail-hours of observation. Excystation Protocol Window Audit: Audit recorded bile/trypsin or other excystation-stage exposure durations against caller-supplied protocol windows.
