Salivary Collection Flow Unit

Convert explicit collected saliva volume and duration to two compatible average flow units without a clinical classification.

Loading tool…

Description

Express a supplied salivary collection rate in two volume/time units.

ENT records use explicit laterality, event markers, sampling clocks, collection volumes and anatomical/source labels. A rate or point resistance needs compatible units, while video timing depends on frame-rate assumptions. These local measurements and records do not detect a clinical event, assess airway function or choose treatment.

Express a supplied salivary collection rate in two volume/time units.

When to use this tool

Use Salivary Collection Flow Unit when you already have collectedMilliliters, elapsedMinutes and need to express a supplied salivary collection rate in two volume/time units.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter collectedMilliliters, elapsedMinutes. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read millilitersPerMinute, microlitersPerSecond. Use the output convention below.

Require collectedMilliliters>=0 and elapsedMinutes>0; return volume/minutes in mL/min and volume*1000/(minutes*60) in µL/s.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

elapsedMinutesElapsed MinutesRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • No collection completeness, gland function, suitable sampling method or clinical threshold is evaluated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the original signal, collection protocol and video acquisition timing for the actual measurement. Preserve supplied side and site sources; a local volume/time rate, frame offset or point ratio does not replace a complete functional assessment.
