Description

Measure an explicitly supplied study follow-up interval without assessing treatment effects.

Evidence review distinguishes reporting completeness, source identity, timing, comparator descriptions, and the validity of a clinical claim. Matching metadata or calculating an interval cannot establish study quality or treatment efficacy. Measurement and protocol conventions need to remain explicit before records are compared.

Measure an explicitly supplied study follow-up interval without assessing treatment effects.

When to use this tool

Use Publication Followup Window Width when you need this specific evidence-record, measurement, interval, comparator, or protocol check.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter followupLower, followupUpper, suppliedTimeUnitFactor. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read width. Use the output convention below.

Require followupLower<=followupUpper and positive suppliedTimeUnitFactor. Return width=(followupUpper-followupLower)*factor.1

followupLowerFollowup LowerRequired. Finite number.
followupUpperFollowup UpperRequired. Finite number.
suppliedTimeUnitFactorSupplied Time Unit FactorRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Factor is target time units per source unit. The window is supplied, and width does not verify follow-up completeness, attrition, actual observation times, or adequacy for a clinical outcome.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a substantive source and study appraisal for clinical claims. Verify methods, preregistration, reporting, comparator conditions, and measurement validity beyond matching labels or calculated completeness.
