Description

Resolve one supplied specimen location relative to an explicit research reference and legend, without surgery planning.

Oral laboratory and research records use specimen labels, model coordinates, material quantities, event times, and device identifiers. A matching label or dimensional clearance answers a narrower question than verified anatomy, traceability, or clinical suitability. Source identity, reference frames, and measurement units must remain explicit.

Resolve one supplied specimen location relative to an explicit research reference and legend, without surgery planning.

When to use this tool

Use Specimen Site Reference Offset when you need this specimen-record, device-label, timing, material, or model-geometry check.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter siteCoordinate, referenceCoordinate, suppliedScale, siteLabel, source. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read offset, sourceKey. Use the output convention below.

For positive suppliedScale return offset=(siteCoordinate-referenceCoordinate)*scale and sourceKey=JSON.stringify([source,siteLabel]).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Scale maps the coordinate difference to the desired length unit. Source and site labels are preserved metadata, not validated anatomical sites, specimen identities, or evidence of correct clinical localization.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use authenticated records and the intended laboratory or measurement protocol for the full task. Verify source labels, coordinate frames, calibration, and the limits of the supplied physical model.
