Prism Base Direction Code

Label a supplied prism-base code and check an explicit code list without computing or recommending prism correction.

Description

Compare a recorded prism-base code with a supplied code list.

Optical records distinguish sphere/cylinder powers, principal meridian axes, prism-base labels and eye-specific offset signs. A radial lens-blank margin is half its diametral margin under centered circular geometry. Local optical formulas and code labels do not perform refraction, verify fit or prescribe a lens.

Compare a recorded prism-base code with a supplied code list.

When to use this tool

Use Prism Base Direction Code when you already have recordId, baseDirectionCode, suppliedCodes and need to compare a recorded prism-base code with a supplied code list.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter recordId, baseDirectionCode, suppliedCodes. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read label, recognized. Inspect recognized before interpreting the associated values.

Require recordId/baseDirectionCode nonempty; return a label and literal list membership as recognized.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The list is supplied; no prism prescription, standardized code validity, optical effect or clinical suitability is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the complete verified optical prescription and lens/frame geometry for a design or fit analysis. Preserve sphere-cylinder axis and eye-specific direction conventions; a meridian sum or centered circular clearance is only one part of that calculation.
