Description
Calculate an outstanding assistive-device loan balance.
Occupational-therapy records preserve the user's stated roles, goals, assistance and task context. Time shares and normalized preferences depend on their declared denominator or scale, while prompt counts are observations rather than measures of independence by themselves. Device geometry and loan balances need verified source records before broader interpretation.
Calculate an outstanding assistive-device loan balance.
When to use this tool
Use Assistive Device Loan Balance when you already have openingCount, issuedCount, returnedCount, writtenOffCount and need to calculate an outstanding assistive-device loan balance.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter openingCount, issuedCount, returnedCount, writtenOffCount. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read outstandingCount. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative safe whole opening/issued/returned/written-off counts; compute opening+issued-returned-writtenOff using BigInt and export a safe integer.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| openingCount | Opening Count | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| issuedCount | Issued Count | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| returnedCount | Returned Count | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| writtenOffCount | Written Off Count | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| outstandingCount | Opening+issued-returned-writtenOff; signed safe integer, so inconsistent records can yield a negative balance. | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Negative balances are retained and unsafe outputs rejected; actual stock, ownership, condition and suitable device use are not established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review the original activity record, client-stated priorities and assessment instrument for a substantive assessment. Inspect actual devices and inventory when fit, condition or availability matters; scalar offsets and record counts preserve narrower facts.
