Description
Supplied exposure-time accounting without dose or occupational safety-limit assessment.
Occupational exposure calculations combine measured quantities, duration, reference conditions, weighting, and sampling support. Linear concentrations, squared acceleration, and logarithmic sound levels require different arithmetic. A supplied reference or limit is not automatically the applicable standard, and a local calculation is separate from a full exposure and safety assessment.
Supplied exposure-time accounting without dose or occupational safety-limit assessment.
When to use this tool
Use Shift Exposure Duration Share when you need this particular sampling, duration, reference-unit, physical-exposure, or reporting-base term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter shiftDuration, observedExposureDuration, breakDuration, excludeBreak. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read denominator, share, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.
Require 0<=breakDuration<=shiftDuration and observedExposureDuration within shiftDuration-breakDuration. Choose denominator=shiftDuration-breakDuration if excludeBreak, otherwise shiftDuration. Return share when positive, otherwise zero with defined=false.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| shiftDuration | Shift Duration | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| observedExposureDuration | Observed Exposure Duration | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| breakDuration | Break Duration | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| excludeBreak | Exclude Break | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| denominator | Shift duration excluding breaks only if excludeBreak=true. | Required. Finite number. |
| share | Dimensionless share using the stated denominator, not a percentage numeral. | Required. Finite number. |
| defined | Whether the stated denominator or quantity is defined; inspect before using a placeholder. | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- All durations need one unit and the observed exposure is bounded by nonbreak time on both branches. This denominator choice does not infer exposure during breaks, classify a hazard, or determine legal or safe work duration.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a complete hazard-specific assessment with calibrated measurements and the appropriate exposure model. Verify reference conditions, sampling coverage, weighting, denominator, and the applicable professional or regulatory method.
