Shift Break Unobserved Base Token Tool

Calculate shift break unobserved base token from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

For nonnegative shiftMinutes, breakMinutes, and unobservedMinutes with break+unobserved<=shift return observedMinutes=shift-break-unobserved.

Occupational exposure calculations combine measured quantities, duration, reference conditions, weighting, and sampling support. Linear concentrations, squared acceleration, and logarithmic sound levels require different arithmetic. A supplied reference or limit is not automatically the applicable standard, and a local calculation is separate from a full exposure and safety assessment.

For nonnegative shiftMinutes, breakMinutes, and unobservedMinutes with break+unobserved<=shift return observedMinutes=shift-break-unobserved.

When to use this tool

Use Shift Break Unobserved Base Token when you need this particular sampling, duration, reference-unit, physical-exposure, or reporting-base term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter shiftMinutes, breakMinutes, unobservedMinutes, excludeBreaks. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read denominatorMinutes, observedMinutes, observedFraction, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

For nonnegative shiftMinutes, breakMinutes, and unobservedMinutes with break+unobserved<=shift return observedMinutes=shift-break-unobserved. Choose denominatorMinutes=shift-break if excludeBreaks, otherwise shift, and return observedFraction when positive or zero with defined=false.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The numerator always excludes breaks and unobserved minutes. Categories and records are supplied, so coverage is not a measure of actual hazard exposure, recovery, or compliance with work-rest requirements.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete hazard-specific assessment with calibrated measurements and the appropriate exposure model. Verify reference conditions, sampling coverage, weighting, denominator, and the applicable professional or regulatory method.
