Description
For nonnegative area and duration, contactedFraction in [0,1], and nonnegative integer repeatedContacts return areaTime=area*fraction*duration and cumulativeAreaTime=areaTime*repeatedContacts.
Occupational exposure calculations combine measured quantities, duration, reference conditions, weighting, and sampling support. Linear concentrations, squared acceleration, and logarithmic sound levels require different arithmetic. A supplied reference or limit is not automatically the applicable standard, and a local calculation is separate from a full exposure and safety assessment.
For nonnegative area and duration, contactedFraction in [0,1], and nonnegative integer repeatedContacts return areaTime=area*fraction*duration and cumulativeAreaTime=areaTime*repeatedContacts.
When to use this tool
Use Occupational Skin Contact Area Time Term when you need this particular sampling, duration, reference-unit, physical-exposure, or reporting-base term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter area, duration, contactedFraction, repeatedContacts. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read areaTime, cumulativeAreaTime. Use the output convention below.
For nonnegative area and duration, contactedFraction in [0,1], and nonnegative integer repeatedContacts return areaTime=area*fraction*duration and cumulativeAreaTime=areaTime*repeatedContacts.1

| repeatedContacts | Repeated Contacts | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| areaTime | Contacted area times one contact duration; not absorbed dose. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The result uses area times time units, not absorbed dose. Repeated contacts are summed without overlap or recovery effects, and skin uptake, chemical properties, protection, and safe exposure are not determined.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a complete hazard-specific assessment with calibrated measurements and the appropriate exposure model. Verify reference conditions, sampling coverage, weighting, denominator, and the applicable professional or regulatory method.
