Description
Trapezoidal sampler flow integration with an explicit volume correction.
Occupational exposure calculations combine measured quantities, duration, reference conditions, weighting, and sampling support. Linear concentrations, squared acceleration, and logarithmic sound levels require different arithmetic. A supplied reference or limit is not automatically the applicable standard, and a local calculation is separate from a full exposure and safety assessment.
Trapezoidal sampler flow integration with an explicit volume correction.
When to use this tool
Use Dust Sampler Flow Time Volume Term when you need this particular sampling, duration, reference-unit, physical-exposure, or reporting-base term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter startFlow, endFlow, minutes, blankVolume. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read grossVolume, correctedVolume, meanFlow. Use the output convention below.
For nonnegative startFlow, endFlow, minutes, and blankVolume return meanFlow=(start+end)/2, grossVolume=meanFlow*minutes, and correctedVolume=grossVolume-blankVolume.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| startFlow | Start Flow | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| endFlow | End Flow | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| minutes | Minutes | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| blankVolume | Volume subtracted after integration; corrected volume may be negative. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| grossVolume | Gross Volume | Required. Finite number. |
| correctedVolume | Corrected Volume | Required. Finite number. |
| meanFlow | Endpoint-average flow in volume per minute. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Flows must use volume per minute and blankVolume the resulting volume unit. Negative corrected volume is retained; linear/mean flow, blank correction, sampler calibration, and actual exposure validity are assumed rather than established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a complete hazard-specific assessment with calibrated measurements and the appropriate exposure model. Verify reference conditions, sampling coverage, weighting, denominator, and the applicable professional or regulatory method.
