Description

Construct an envelope from an explicitly rounded or truncated minute record.

Pregnancy and birth research records distinguish observed and estimated values, dating anchors, day coordinates, time precision, clock offsets, and source permissions. A notation conversion or interval comparison does not determine a clinical date or validate consent. The supplied reference convention and uncertainty need to remain visible.

Construct an envelope from an explicitly rounded or truncated minute record.

When to use this tool

Use Birth Record Time Precision Interval when you need this supplied research age, date, interval, clock, provenance, or record-rule calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter minuteOfDay, precisionMinutes, rounded. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read earliestMinute, latestMinuteExclusive, crossesDay. Inspect crossesDay before interpreting the associated values.

For minuteOfDay in 0..1439 and precisionMinutes in 1..1440 return a centered half-increment interval if rounded, otherwise a lower-edge interval from minuteOfDay through minuteOfDay+precision. Return earliestMinute, latestMinuteExclusive, and crossesDay when lower<0 or upper>1440.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
minuteOfDayMinute Of DayRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0; maximum 1439.
precisionMinutesPrecision MinutesRequired. Safe integer; minimum 1; maximum 1440.
roundedRoundedRequired. Boolean.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
earliestMinuteEarliest MinuteRequired. Finite number.
latestMinuteExclusiveExclusive upper minute boundary; may exceed 1440.Required. Finite number.
crossesDayTrue only for lower<0 or upper>1440; equality at 1440 is not crossing.Required. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Inputs use minute coordinates, not complete dates or time zones. An exclusive upper endpoint exactly at 1440 does not set crossesDay; rounding/truncation policy is supplied rather than an authenticated birth-time uncertainty.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified dates and sources together with the intended research or clinical assessment process. Check dating anchors, clock conventions, uncertainty, and whether a supplied reporting rule is appropriate for the question.
