Mine Call Factor
Reconcile called metal against recovery-corrected product metal; over-100% factors and negative discrepancies are preserved.
Description
A mine call factor reconciles metal reported in mined ore with metal accounted for through processing.
A mine call factor reconciles metal reported in mined ore with metal accounted for through processing. Correcting recovered product metal for metallurgical recovery puts both quantities on a feed-metal basis.1
The tool returns accountedFeedMetalKg, mineCallFactorPercent, unaccountedMetalKg. The computation uses supplied observations and parameters rather than acquiring measurements.
When to use Mine Call Factor
Use this for the following task: Reconcile called metal against recovery-corrected product metal; over-100% factors and negative discrepancies are preserved. Prepare observations and calibration parameters on the same unit and reporting basis.
How to use Mine Call Factor and understand its results
- Prepare the measured quantities and supplied model parameters. Match the units and align paired lists before calculating.
- Enter calledMetalKg, recoveredMetalKg, metallurgicalRecoveryFraction according to the field table, then run the tool.
- Read accountedFeedMetalKg, mineCallFactorPercent, unaccountedMetalKg. Use the calculation below to interpret the selected mean or the model’s signs, units and comparison flags.
- Review the supplied assumptions and calibration before comparing or reporting the result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type and bounds | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| calledMetalKg | Called metal kg | number | Required |
| recoveredMetalKg | Recovered metal kg | number | Required |
| metallurgicalRecoveryFraction | Metallurgical recovery fraction | number | Required |
Use positive called metal and a recovery fraction in (0,1], with nonnegative recovered metal. Return the recovery-corrected metal, factor and signed discrepancy.
accounted feed metal = recovered metal/recovery; call factor% = 100×accounted/called; discrepancy = called−accounted The symbols and boundary conditions refer to the supplied fields and the implementation described above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| accountedFeedMetalKg | Accounted feed metal kg | number |
| mineCallFactorPercent | Mine call factor percent | number |
| unaccountedMetalKg | Unaccounted metal kg | number |

Values above 100% and negative discrepancies are retained for investigation. The result does not locate losses or verify sampling and accounting records.
Numerical inputs must be finite. Input-shape and calculation checks do not establish measurement quality or the validity of a supplied calibration.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Choose Metal Content when you need its operation: Calculate contained and recovered metal across dry-tonnage lots with grades in g/t; caller recovery fractions do not establish reserves or payable-metal terms. Choose Leaching Recovery for the complementary operation: Infer leached metal from ore and changing residue mass/assay; accounts for mass loss with matched dry samples.
