Infant Parent Age Reference Gap Tool

Compare supplied research age coordinates on the same unit basis without inferring identities or risk.

Description

Subtract infantCoordinate from parentCoordinate for difference, then subtract referenceDifference for residual.

Age is a difference between an event and a selected origin. Gestational, chronological, corrected, and source-record coordinates can differ even when expressed in the same time unit.

Subtract infantCoordinate from parentCoordinate for difference, then subtract referenceDifference for residual.

When to use this tool

Use Infant Parent Age Reference Gap when you need to compare explicit age origins or recorded time coordinates.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter infantCoordinate, parentCoordinate, referenceDifference. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read difference, residual. Use the output convention below.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Coordinates must share one age/time unit and origin; this does not infer family relationships or clinical meaning.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Keep the original timestamps and age definitions, and confirm the intended convention with the relevant clinical or research protocol.
