Description
Multiply initialAmount by all stageFractions in [0, 1], then subtract finalWithdrawn, which cannot exceed the retained amount.
Dilution changes the concentration or source-equivalent quantity associated with a sample. A dilution fraction is the retained proportion; its reciprocal is a correction factor.
Multiply initialAmount by all stageFractions in [0, 1], then subtract finalWithdrawn, which cannot exceed the retained amount.
When to use this tool
Use Sample Dilution Stage Remainder when you need a supplied dilution or source-equivalent calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter initialAmount, stageFractions, finalWithdrawn. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read retainedAmount, remainder. Use the output convention below.
Multiply initialAmount by all stageFractions in [0, 1], then subtract finalWithdrawn, which cannot exceed the retained amount.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- An empty stage list preserves the initial amount; losses and recoveries outside the supplied fractions are not estimated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
