Description
Multiply nonnegative measuredAmount by dilutionFactor of at least one.
Dilution changes the concentration or source-equivalent quantity associated with a sample. A dilution fraction is the retained proportion; its reciprocal is a correction factor.
Multiply nonnegative measuredAmount by dilutionFactor of at least one.
When to use this tool
Use Plate Dilution Mass Reference Gap when you need a supplied dilution or source-equivalent calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter measuredAmount, dilutionFactor, referenceAmount. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read correctedAmount, residual. Use the output convention below.
Multiply nonnegative measuredAmount by dilutionFactor of at least one. Subtract nonnegative referenceAmount for residual.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- The dilution factor is supplied and must suit the measured quantity; no plate-count validity or biological interpretation is determined.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
