TMAO Risk Band
Classify TMAO concentration against caller-supplied research bands, not a clinical diagnosis.
Description
A TMAO band screen applies caller-selected research thresholds to concentration.
A TMAO band screen applies caller-selected research thresholds to concentration. The band label is a comparison result rather than a clinical risk estimate.1
Classify TMAO concentration against caller-supplied research bands, not a clinical diagnosis.
When to use TMAO Risk Band
Use this tool to classify TMAO concentration against caller-supplied research bands, not a clinical diagnosis.
Prepare the measured profile, formula counts, upstream model outputs or caller-defined reference criteria requested. Keep paired entries aligned and units, sample basis and preprocessing consistent.
How to use TMAO Risk Band and understand its results
- Prepare the measured profile, formula counts, upstream model outputs or caller-defined reference criteria requested. Keep paired entries aligned and units, sample basis and preprocessing consistent.
- Enter tmaoConcentrationUmolL, lowBandCeiling, highBandFloor using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read riskBand, distanceToHighBand. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| tmaoConcentrationUmolL | Tmao concentration umol l | number | Required |
| lowBandCeiling | Low band ceiling | number | Required |
| highBandFloor | High band floor | number | Required |
Enter nonnegative concentration in µmol/L and ordered nonnegative boundaries. Return band and signed high-floor-minus-concentration distance. When both boundaries coincide, there is no middle band.
low if value<lowCeiling; high if value≥highFloor; otherwise middle Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| riskBand | Risk band | string |
| distanceToHighBand | Distance to high band | number |

No clinical threshold, causal risk model or patient assessment is supplied.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Urea Cycle Marker Screen: Cross-check urea-cycle markers against user-selected screening cutoffs. For a complementary task, use Glutathione Redox Index: Screen glutathione redox ratio against a supplied log10 threshold.
