Flux Objective Score

Evaluate a caller-supplied flux-balance objective function.

Description

A flux objective is a weighted sum over a supplied reaction-flux vector.

A flux objective is a weighted sum over a supplied reaction-flux vector. Evaluating it does not search for a feasible or optimal vector.1

Evaluate a caller-supplied flux-balance objective function.

When to use Flux Objective Score

Use this tool to evaluate a caller-supplied flux-balance objective function.

Prepare the measured profile, formula counts, upstream model outputs or caller-defined reference criteria requested. Keep paired entries aligned and units, sample basis and preprocessing consistent.

How to use Flux Objective Score and understand its results

  1. Prepare the measured profile, formula counts, upstream model outputs or caller-defined reference criteria requested. Keep paired entries aligned and units, sample basis and preprocessing consistent.
  2. Enter reactionFluxes, objectiveCoefficients, minimumObjective using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read objectiveValue, meetsTarget. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

Enter nonempty aligned finite fluxes and coefficients, allowing signed values, and finite minimum. Return the score and inclusive comparison.

objective=Σflux_i×coefficient_i; meets=objective≥minimum

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

No stoichiometric feasibility, flux bounds or optimization is performed.

Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Stoichiometric Flux Balance: Check S·v steady-state residuals against a supplied flux-balance tolerance. For a complementary task, use Anaplerosis Flux Split: Partition two measured anaplerosis-associated fluxes by caller-defined branches.
