Coeluting Peak Split

Allocate a co-eluting peak area using caller-provided component reference intensities.

Description

A coeluting-area split allocates a total signal using two supplied reference proportions.

A coeluting-area split allocates a total signal using two supplied reference proportions. It is a mixture allocation rule rather than spectral deconvolution.1

Allocate a co-eluting peak area using caller-provided component reference intensities.

When to use Coeluting Peak Split

Use this tool to allocate a co-eluting peak area using caller-provided component reference intensities.

Prepare the measured profile, formula counts, upstream model outputs or caller-defined reference criteria requested. Keep paired entries aligned and units, sample basis and preprocessing consistent.

How to use Coeluting Peak Split and understand its results

  1. Prepare the measured profile, formula counts, upstream model outputs or caller-defined reference criteria requested. Keep paired entries aligned and units, sample basis and preprocessing consistent.
  2. Enter coelutedTotalArea, referenceComponentA, referenceComponentB using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read componentAArea, componentBArea. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
Input fieldMeaningValue type; see rules belowRequirement
coelutedTotalAreaCoeluted total areanumberRequired
referenceComponentAReference component anumberRequired
referenceComponentBReference component bnumberRequired

Enter nonnegative total and references with positive reference sum. Return two allocated areas.

areaA=total×referenceA/(referenceA+referenceB); areaB=total−areaA

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

Reference response comparability is assumed. No peak shapes, retention-time fit or uncertainty is used.

Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Peak FWHM: Interpolate chromatographic full width at half maximum. For a complementary task, use Matrix Ion Suppression: Quantify matrix-induced ion suppression or enhancement using a post-extraction spike.
